Start with the original reporting.
Treat a map summary as an invitation to read its sources. Keep the article’s date and the speaker behind a claim in view.
INDEPENDENT WORK. SHARED CURIOSITY.
Meet Global News Map. A project that puts geography, reporting and context in the same frame. We think you should spend some time with it.

We support this project by sharing it, crediting its creators and sending readers to the original. This is an independent editorial feature.
WHY IT CAUGHT OUR ATTENTION
Where is a story unfolding? What sits beyond the frame? Which source is behind the claim? Global News Map makes geography a starting point for that exploration.
At War by War, we were already thinking about how to connect conflicts, place and reporting. Finding another team building in that direction is a reason to point people their way. Our historical archive provides the long view; their project offers another way into the news.

THE SOURCES MATTER
The project combines news feeds and other data with automated extraction. Its own documentation explains that automated summaries can be wrong, reporting is uneven, and activity on a news map is not a verified measure of events on the ground.

News attention, geographic precision and forecasts answer different questions. The map’s labels and methodology help distinguish them.
